she's here!

Last Tuesday the 14th, we welcomed little Marlowe Jill into the world! What is more "everyday and common" but at the same time such a miracle and a once in a lifetime event than a baby's birth? As I watched my daughter nervously listening to nurses and doctors prepare her I thought of myself 30 plus years ago in the same situation~about to have major surgery and become a mother at the same time. So much fear, excitement and unknown. And then after 9 months and the blink of an eye you are looking at your baby.

go time
There was a roomful of teary eyes when the nurse came to wheel Megan to surgery, I looked back down the hallway and saw my baby going to deliver her baby. It wasn't long (although it seemed like it) until the proud daddy came to let us know both of his girls were doing great and we could go to their recovery room. Megan told us her name; Jill being my middle name was so special to me. The rest of the day was spent staring and holding Marlowe.

Time almost stands still as we while away the days staring at her, cuddling her, taking care of both the girls and just enjoying these new baby days. What a gift from heaven!

the countdown

It's a girl!

We are counting the days until baby M arrives! After 39 weeks we just can't wait to see her face and feel her baby skin.

momma-to-be

Walls have been painted, bedding sewn, tiny sleepers and socks laundered, beanies crocheted, artwork completed and hung on the walls, classes taken, books put on shelves, naps taken, tums ingested, a name chosen, maternity pictures taken….all we need is a baby to arrive! Single digit counting is here and we can't wait!

A Fresh Start

Don't you just love a fresh start? A blank slate? Day 1 of 365 days?  Another chance? Re-thinking your dreams? A better you?

We're not like Cinderella and become a different person at the stroke of midnight on December 31st, but there is something magical about looking back and looking forward to the blank slate of a new year.

One idea we want to incorporate into our everyday is the Rememberance Jar. The idea is to write down good things that happen to you each day throughout the year to put into the jar. Then, on December 31st to open the jar and remember all the blessings that 2014 brought you. It's easy to forget…
that gorgeous sunset,
the perfect lunch you ate al fresco on an ordinary Wednesday,
the flowers your husband surprised you with,
those LOL moments you had with your girlfriends,
a kind deed,
the darndest thing that 1st grader said,
cuddles with your puppy-
you get the idea!

Here's our empty jar- ready to be filled.

We are daring to be adventurous, to grow, step out of our comfort zone, work hard, and have gumption! (who doesn't love this word?!)

so…

HAPPY 2014!!
