Goodbye 2501

On Friday, July 27th 2012, Blake and I finally closed on our first house that we shared together for the past three years. It was a bittersweet goodbye to our little midtown home- one that if you asked me Thursday afternoon if it was all really going to go through, I would have laughed.

The process of selling this house has been a challenge and God has tested Blake and I through it all, but he sent a little miracle our way Thursday at 6:00 in the evening when a nice man came to replace the last of the repairs on our house. He stayed until 1:30 in the morning fixing our ductwork (I now know everything I would ever want to know about ductwork!) so that it would be ready for inspections Friday morning at 8am. We got the call at 8:45 from our realtor, "it passed." R...E...L...I...E...F!!

We turned the keys over to a nice engaged couple from Chicago that afternoon and afterwards drove straight downtown to celebrate with my family! We met for cold drinks at a neat new bar called Valkyrie then walked to The Tavern in the Brady District for bacon popcorn, deviled eggs, and their delicious tavern burger. It was a wonderful celebratory evening spent together!

2501 will always hold a special place in our hearts...it is where...

Blake carried me over the threshold when we returned from our honeymoon
we brought home our first Christmas tree
we celebrated our first Christmas together as a married couple
Blake learned how to fix almost anything on an old home
we learned how to live with one another and work through things as a married couple
we learned what it is like to do laundry in the garage
we brought our puppy, Rosie, home to!!
lots of wonderful memories with Rosie
we learned that we never want a pecan tree in our yard...ever...again
we learned to laugh at difficult situations instead of quit (or cry for me)
we learned how much it stinks to not be able to open your windows in the Spring or Fall
we explored our favorite areas of Tulsa- Utica, Woodward, Brookside and Cherry St.
I learned what meals Blake loves and doesn't so much love that I cook for him
we learned how blessed we were to have a home together even when things went wrong

We have made some great memories in this first house as well as learned a handful of life's lessons. We look forward to finding our next house and making it our HOME.

Rocky Mountain High

We just returned from a fabulous time in Breckenridge, Colorado with family. This year we rented a larger home and my sisters and their families joined us.

We convened on the town one Saturday and met by the Blue River for a picnic. The week was filled with cool sunny days, laughter, hiking, great food, a 4th of July parade, horses, fishing, guy's night out, relaxing, girl's night out, cold nights, yoga and a granola war! The girls each made a secret granola recipe at home and we sampled and voted for our favorite at breakfast one morning. We did this same thing with chocolate bark at Christmas and had a lot of fun so we decided to do it again with a new food.

We packed a lot of fun into 7 days and had a hard time tearing ourselves away from the mountains. It's a hard thing looking in the rearview at disappearing mountains and looking at the dashboard at the temperature double! We will be back!

Once upon a time....

there was a boy and a girl that met, fell in love and got married on this day 3 years ago!
Happy Anniversary Emily and Blake. You might say their wedding was the starting point for our business.
You both deserve the best and that's what I wish for you. Cheers to an everlasting & happy marriage!
