The Big Move

Yay! We finally moved in over the weekend after an exciting summer of hopping between our daughter's homes, etc., etc... Naturally it was in the 100's all weekend here in Tulsa, what else would you expect? We are slowly unpacking things we forgot we had and still looking for things we know we have. A few photos of the process:

dreaming of this summer meal...

This was the wonderful lunch we had a year ago at one of our favorite restaurants in the Napa Valley~ Tra Vigne. Wish I had it in front of me at this moment!

A,B,C, easy as 1.2.3...

Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand."
~Chinese proverb

It is back to school time in Oklahoma and we have 3 teachers in the family so the past week has been spent setting up classrooms. We have a middle school dance teacher/dance coach, a first grade teacher and a junior high Physical Science teacher/varsity basketball coach amongst us. The 2 girls were all about jazzing up their rooms with banners and such but Brandon wasn't too interested in tissue flowers or fabric banners stenciled with "Laws of Motion" hanging from his ceiling. Here are some pics of the progress made:

Gypsy Summer

We are almost at the end of our Gypsy Summer Tour 2011! Our house will be finished in less than 2 weeks and the excitement is building.... It has been a summer of living out of suitcases, wearing the same clothes over and over because its just easier, moving between our daughter's homes, friend's homes, family homes, vacation homes....

We can't thank those daughters and family and friends enough for their gracious hospitality! It will be a summer we won't forget. Here are a few photos of the new house, all it needs is some grass, landscaping, carpet and cleaning up and the key will be ours!

our front door waiting for visitors!

studio light waiting to spark some creativity

kitchen waiting for cooking & baking and holiday meals to be shared

shower waiting to rain some water down on our guests!

an earlier shot~fireplaces waiting to keep us warm and a window to frame a Christmas tree in a few months

We've waited almost 6 months, waiting patiently a few more days......(not really)

Summer Sorbet

mango sorbet...

this little pint is just as much flavorful as it is refreshing whether if it is for a mid afternoon or late evening treat! Who can blame me? This is really one of the only foods that sounds appealing to me when it is 112 degrees outside!

Chicago is my kind of town...

This is how we started off our trip in Chicago:

Chicago-style pizza from the famous Giordano's! Well worth the wait!

This was followed by lots of walking down Michigan Avenue and along the Chicago River. This is what we saw...

Saturday was spent celebrating the beautiful wedding of (our niece/cousin) Kristen and Thomas at Assumption Catholic Church in downtown Chicago

On the break between wedding and reception, we were able to walk down to The Navy Pier and grab a Chicago-style hot dog at Portillo's!

The reception was at the lovely Ivy Room in downtown Chicago. There was a cocktail hour in a secret little garden amidst the concrete jungle. A trio of musicians entertained while we sipped, munched and mingled!

the happy couple!

We moved inside for dinner and dancing- lots of it!

Good times, good dancing, good memories in Chicago!
