We enjoyed a hot weekend of grilling, floating in the pool, buying concord grapes, chocolate cherry bread and a beautiful assortment of tomatoes at the farmer's market, watering the yard, and grilling some more. All while sweating through more 100+ temperatures!
Caprese kabobs- a light, yummy treat!

I think the entire country is experiencing more than usual hot weather this summer and Tulsa is included in this heat wave. We have had 16 days of 100+ degree weather just in this month of July. The forecast today is no different- heat index readings in the afternoon between 105-110 degrees.
So how does one get through this heat and stay cool?
Get up with the sun, enjoy your morning walks and water the yard all before 8:00am.
Stay inside all morning and afternoon and create in the studio with Pandora playing in the background.
Breckenridge, Colorado really knows how to celebrate our country's independence on the Fourth of July! The day is filled with lively entertainment, free activities for all ages and one festive parade. You have to get your chairs set up down on Main Street early in the morning before the entire town is lining Main Street cheering on the bicyclists racing in the Firecracker 50.
The parade is filled with local businesses, firefighters, floats, dogs, water gun fights, a trailer pulling fresh snow from the top of the mountain with people throwing snowballs, and even families celebrating family reunions. All of it promises a wonderful parade!
Once the parade is over, we enjoy walking along Main Street- dropping in shops and looking at everything that is decorated in red, white and blue. The past several years we have lunch on the back patio of Kenosha which overlooks the gorgeous mountains. It is a true American lunch- a cold Breckenridge Brew, hamburger, baked beans and fries. We always leave stuffed!
We then head back down Main Street to watch the local firemen and little kids spraying one another with their water hoses- so much fun for the kids to get wet and the adults to watch them squeal! :)
At this point everyone is ready for a nap or some quiet time to read up in the cabin from a fun-filled morning before heading back down to lay their quilt out on the lawn at the Riverwalk Center to listen to the National Repertory Orchestra perform a patriotic concert followed by a fireworks display.
It really is a wonderful way to celebrate the Fourth of July in beautiful Breck! Filled with memorable moments throughout the entire day.
Breckenridge, Colorado has a vast array of wonderful flowers. From luscious hanging baskets, flower boxes, the state's columbines, bright orange poppies, and then of course the wildflowers. Each year I look forward to enjoying these beautiful Breckenridge blooms!
