"There were never such devoted sisters..."

There are all kinds of sisters, and they all have an important role in our lives. This post is about our biological sisters and what they mean to us. My mother had 2 sisters and I grew up listening to the stories they had to tell. Stories of 3 girls growing up in a very small town in the midwest. Stories of chores (and the sister that hid to get out of doing them), redecorating their room over and over, working at their dad's soda fountain, their pony and sleigh, and double dates they shared. I recall sitting around with my sisters and cousins at the holidays listening to them chatter into the wee hours recounting funny stories and laughing so much they could hardly get the words out.

woo hoo!

Fast forward to the next generation~my 2 sisters and I. Since there was a 9 year age difference, for years I was their babysitter, loved putting them in dress-ups and coming up with games and crafts for them. As we got older our age difference shrunk and we were just 3 girls that enjoyed being together. We began taking "Sister Weekends". The 3 of us looked so forward to planning our long weekends away whether it was Chicago, Dallas, Santa Fe, Sarasota, NYC, Kansas City or St. Louis. The weekend always revolved around shopping, spa-ing, eating at good restaurants and lots of laughter and picture taking. The time together brought us closer and refreshed us. Over the years we have shared a thousand wonderful moments and funny stories too many to name. We have been each other's cheerleaders and supporters, confidantes and comrades.

Top o' the Mornin'

Happy St. Patty's Day to the wee folk in our life - Finn and Ellie!

Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers—
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours—
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through!

just around the corner....

SPRING! We can see signs of it everywhere~Spring break, spring forward, spring equinox to name a few.
Here is what we saw just today in search of SPRING~

blooming bradford pear

juicy strawberries
waiting for a home
bringing out the spring shoulder bag
you gotta do it!
fragrant pink hyacinth
looking forward to the smell of fresh cut grass
sprinkler time
sunny jonquils
pink profusion
welcoming path

It's spring fever.  That is what the name of it is.
And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want,
but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!
~Mark Twain

Enjoy spring wherever you are. Thank you for green popping up,
nature's pastel colors and the sunshine warming our skin!
What does SPRING mean to you?

introducing...our 3 doggies!!

"Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole."  -Roger Caras

Gracie Lou - yellow lab, 7 years old

My dad picked out Gracie from a litter in Arkansas. We were all so excited to have a new puppy for our family dog! My dad spent a lot of time training her to become a well-behaved puppy as well as his new hunting dog! My dad had recently gotten into duck hunting and was so eager to get his own duck dog.

Gracie is a wonderful chill dog who loves to please her 'master' and her loved ones. She lives for going out to the land with my dad and being in her element- exploring, hunting and being in nature.

Gracie is not necessarily the social dog of the three- she doesn't mind laying in a room by her window by herself. She could sit in the back yard all afternoon if she wanted to, looking out for squirrels and birds.

We love her so and she is such a good dog!

Then came... NESTLE!

Nestle Quick- chocolate lab, 3 years old

Megan, my older sister got Nestle in Texas. It had been four years since we had a puppy in the family and Gracie's world was rocked. :) Gracie had to get used to having another dog every now and then at her house. Nestle loved playing with Gracie and watching her every move.

Nestle is a very loyal doggie who LOVES being around Meg and Brandon and when he isn't he is pretty much waiting by the door for them to come. He enjoys chewing on sticks, playing catch with his football or frisbee, going swimming and every now and then still enjoys stealing a kleenex from the trash can.

Nestle caught onto hunting and being at the land from Gracie and now he enjoys getting the 'nod' to go hunting with my dad and Brandon. He is a very strong, fast and good-looking chocolate lab.

We love you, Nes!!

Then came...ROSIE!

Rosie May- golden retriever, 11 months old

Blake (my husband) and I got Rosie from a farm in Missouri last May. She has brought a lot of laughs and has quite the personality! You can tell when she is very excited and curious because her bottom waggles from side to side as she explores a new place and is looking for something or anything to put in her mouth!

She is the social butterfly of the group. She LOVES being around her cuzzies- Gracie and Nestle! She has learned so much from them and enjoys playing with them. She loves going to the park, chewing on sticks, being outside (especially in the cold weather), and being close to people.

That face is full of puppy trouble- digging, jumping up on furniture, barking, digging, putting everything in her mouth, and more digging! But we still love her so much! She is learning and getting better :) She just recently went to the land with Gracie and Nes and fell in love with it! It's hard to imagine life without her.

We love you, Rosie!

All 3 of the doggies love being around each other.

Gracie puts up with Rosie's puppy tendencies when she is over at her house.

Gracie and Nestle enjoying being at the land.

Nestle is now learning how Gracie felt when he was a puppy! He really does love getting the 'crazies' in the backyard together and being around one another.
